I've been training for this marathon the whole time in 4000 feet elevation so running at sea level was a breeze! My first average of 8:40 minute miles! I really felt amazing! and talk about people watching!!! I felt like I was in a video game dodging tourist, bikes, dogs, other runners, crazy people, and long surf boards walking across the path. It was a lot of fun and entertaining.
My kids played at the boardwalk while I ran so they also thought it was a fun run! Roller coasters, cotton candy and arcades while I got my run on of course they want mommy to go running anytime she wants now :) After I was done I challenged one of our friends to the rock climbing wall and of course I won! Talk about a great way to stretch!!!!
Of course we ended the night in playing games and bringing in the new year with people we love! Just before midnight we changed from our pjs into our "cocktail bring in the new year" attire and it was a lot of fun! by 12:05 I was back in my pjs!
I ran my 3 miles last night on Jan 1st I had to run it on the treadmill and it was TORTURE!!!!!! It was only 3 miles and I felt like I was going to pass out and DIE! I hate running on the treadmill. But I had to get those 3 miles in somehow even if it was 9:30 pm on the torture devise ha!
Now it's 2013 and I am so ready to see what this year brings! My half marathon is next weekend ahhhhhh! I am so excited and what a great way to set the tone for this year. Saving lives and accomplishing goals! Go Team World Vision!!!!!
I leave you with my tips of the day to get your new year started off right.....
Elisha's helpful Tips:
1. Keep a journal and log everything!!! I love MFP (my fitness pal) download it on your phone if you don't have it!
2. Drink lots of water! Don't drink your calories! Carry a large water bottle or cup everywhere! I love my Starbucks venti cup!
3. Consistency!!!!! Pick a time of day when you know you can have at least 30 minutes of uninterrupted workout at least 6 days a week! Even if its a 30 minute brisk walk in the am before all the chaos is up :-)
4. Be patient a healthy weight loss is no more than 2lbs a week! Success takes time!
... 6. Only one cheat day a week but don't binge no more than an extra 500-1000 calories than your normal day!
7. Don't relay on meal replacement shakes or pills as weight loss unless you're going to drink shakes or take pills forever you'll gain the weight back! It's a lifestyle not a temporary fix remember!
8. Portion control if you order a whole plate at a restaurant have them box up half before it even comes to you so that you won't be tempted to eat just because its in front of you!
9. If you feel unmotivated find support rather it's a group/site online or someone you know who will push you!
10. NO EXCUSES!!!!! Take accountability it's ALL up to you!!!
There are of course so many more but that's the top 10 I can think of off the top my head at the moment! Enjoy your day my fitness fans XOXO!
