While I was working out I put the last 30 minutes of Biggest Loser on my DVR. I got really upset watching the weigh-ins. Seeing the disappointment on their faces for only losing 3lbs in one week really upset me. These people are losing weight at a healthy rate and are upset at themselves for not losing a huge number. It makes me mad because it gives the viewers at home a false perception of weight loss. It's no wonder some people give up so fast! They are expecting huge numbers to drop off the scale like they see on TV and when they don't see that they just give up. Losing weight is such a long slow process and we need all the inspiration we can get. I don't think that Biggest Loser is setting a very good example of healthy weight loss.
Nobody has time to spend 6-8 hours at the gym and have a nutrition expert create their meals for them. I just wish they wouldn't beat these people up for not losing huge amount of weight in one week. I can go on and on about that show but I'll leave it at that! It just really made me sad seeing how upset the contestants were for only losing 3lbs when I wanted to jump for joy for them!!!!
Don't get me wrong the show is still inspiring but it gives false hope to those who don't know any better. With that being said Jillian Michaels is still one of my favorite trainers of all times, I know they are paying her some big $$$$$ for her to come back on that show! I'm mostly talking about the perception of weight loss the show sends to people. I love the trainers I can see they truly care about the people on the show.
Moving on........
Since I committed to eating clean this month, I made some no bake "brownies" last night. (Yep already wanting chocolate)
It only takes 2 ingredients
- 1 cup of raisins
- 1 cup of walnuts
I Ninja'd the crap out of those ingredients and rolled into balls
It definitely wasn't brownies or chocolate but it stopped the craving so I'll take it! I put them in the freezer over night and had one today as a snack! They are pretty good but next time I am going to add unsweetened coco powder and try it with almonds instead of walnuts! I think then we might have something goin' on!!!!!
Hope y'all have a fabulous Wednesday xoxoxoxo
I thouhght this one fit perfect today :)
I think they just get mad because they are spending ALL DAY in the gym that they are expecting big numbers because of it...but you are right that it does give us regular ppl an outrageous view of weight-loss and get discouraged at 3 pounds when I would be ECSTATIC to lose 3 pounds in a week! So basically I just repeated everything you said haha!
ReplyDeletehahahahaha :) I get you though, I wish I could lose 3 lbs in a week! I've been trying to lose 3 lbs for several months now :)
DeleteThose brownies just look plain ass wrong!!! Lol
ReplyDeletebahahahahahaha I even tried to make them look a little better with instagram but nope they still look like poo lol! But they take a little better than poo at least :)
DeleteLOVE your outlook! I'm thinking of making oatmeal energy bites, have you tried them? I agree110% on your thoughts on the biggest loser. I also think that's why many of the shows contestants relaspe. They have no perception of real life day to day maintainable weight loss!
ReplyDeleteThanks :) I haven't tried the oatmeal energy bites but I did see them on pinterest and I'll have to try them out, (I'll be experimenting a lot this month) I need to go to the store I had to work with what I had last night which was not much haha! Let me know how they turn out if you try them!
DeleteI agree 100%. Even in real life for the challenge I'm doing people get mad when they lose only .2 lbs or gain but they had an awesome loss the week before. I hate it. Slow and steady. That is why so many contrstants gain there weight back. Thank you for putting it out there. You rock. And your foot will get better soon:)
