Meet My Other Half LIink Up

This is my very first link up and I am so excited because it is with my favorite girls from the south Leigh Ann , Kassie, and Sarah so I could not pass this one up.

However I am a procrastinator and I emailed my husband (who is out of town on business all week) these questions last night at 10PM with out warning and went to sleep. I'm sure he was well on his way to dreamland when answering these which is why I'm sure they are so boring. So I will give you a little insight on his real personality. For one HE directed our Harlem Shake Video in this post a while back, and I'll leave you a little image of him from a few weekends ago when we were having our very own version of a Celebrity Splash episode.

He really is a funny guy. His answers not so much ha.

1. What are your thoughts on your wife's blog?
I'm still trying to figure out the point of the blogging world so I have mixed thoughts. Some times it seems as if it could be a popularity contest, and at other times it seems like a good way to journal your thoughts to share with others. Really I just don't get it cause I don't have enough time to read all the things I'd like to, much less to follow every one's blogs.

2. Do you know what IG stands for? How about OOTD?
No for both
3. How long would you say you've been together?
8 years (we have actually been together for 9 years)
4. Does her working out and eating healthy make you want to join in?
Not really (he just doesn't want to admit I inspire him. He works out everyday)
5. Is there anything you can do to inspire him to workout/eat healthier?
Don't think I need to.
6. What do you love best about fit/ healthy life?
How much better you feel about yourself.
7. What do you like least?
The food. (he misses my fried fatty cooking)
8. How long did it take for you to agree to answer these questions?
We never agreed on anything I was asked to answer them, so I did. (that's right:)

It would have been so much fun to do a Vlog but I'm so bad at doing things last minute I didn't have time. So you get the writing instead :) This was fun we should do another one soon! Next time I'll prepare for a vlog! It's so nice to see all the husbands participating. They really do support us, and I know he says he has always loved me through thick and thin, but I know he loves the thin just a little more, 3 years ago he wasn't able to pick up 218lbs this easy ha......

Have a FITtastic Wednesday FITnatics

New 10K PR

Oh my gosh this Run with the Wind race was one for the books that is for sure! I'll start from the beginning...... a group of us decided to run this race, for some it was their very first 5k, for some it was going to be a new challenge, and for some of us it was for fun to support the group of mommas on their first race and new challenges. 18 of us mommas all together. For me and my friend, like I said in the last post were running the 10K for fun together we had planned on crossing the finish line with linked arms. Boy did that plan change! Since this was my first official 10k I would be setting a new PR (personal record) even though I set one on my Nike app during my half marathon but ya know.....

me and my running partner in full Beast Mode

our group of Mom's on a Healthy Mission

So when we arrived at the school where the race started/finished we were told that the city did not approve them to lay the chalk on the newly paved roads and that if we wanted to run the 10k we would have to run the 5K course twice. I knew from that point that this was going to be a HUGE mental race for me. Not only was I going to have to cross the finish line and keep running the whole thing again but there is about a mile long incline in the 5k course that I would now have to run 2 times!!!!

So my partner in crime and I set off on Go.......... we ran perfectly in sync the first 5k course. We actually came in first in our age group for the 5K and I told her we should stop but she said no way and kept running past that finish line to do the whole course again! That's my girl!!!! As SOON as we turned the corner onto that incline mile AGAIN my mind started to fight big time with me. I seriously wanted to stop sooooooo bad and just walk! I had a huge argument inside my head with myself to keep going. Thankfully my bad A running partner was just running along side of me strong as ever! She was the only thing that kept me going, but I left my "body" back at mile 4......

As I'm already dying seeing the finish line coming up in sight this runner pops out of nowhere and says I'm racing you two! and in fact she was she was! She was in our age group and we were all racing for first place. So my partner and I start hauling A big time and this is where I really start to think I'm going to die! I don't that "runners high" at the finish line like most do! I get the "thank God there is the finish line I can almost stop" low! We sprint ahead and I thought we had it and then the girl catches back up to us! So I told my partner to just go I knew she could do it! and at the last second I gave up and just couldn't sprint anymore!!!

This was a whole new experience for me. I have always raced these races to beat myself. To beat my own time, never to actually race another runner. But let me just say it was actually really fun!!!! We all came in within seconds of each other.
1st place was my running partner at 53:41
2nd place our contender at 53:44
3rd place yours truly at 53:48

I congratulated our contender she did awesome and we all pushed each other at the end.  Check out our mileage times.....
you can see the killer inclines at mile 2 and 4/5 and then our race for the finish at the end ha!

1st and 3rd 10K female winners :)

This was a small town run and our group of mommas ended up taking home 8 winning medals. It was so much fun and now I have a 10K PR to beat at my next race.
My mom is next to me she is a grandma and won 2nd in her age group and on the far right and is my running partner's mom who is also a grandma and won 3rd in her age group. Some proud granny's up in this race :)

The rest of the weekend was spent with my family and loved ones, which is just the way I LOVE to spend my weekends. On our 3+ hour drive home we stopped for a little nature hike in the desert and some fresh air. It seems to be a weekly Sunday tradition lately. We have been hiking every Sunday for several weeks now and you know I'm loving it!

Good night for those readers right now and Happy Monday for those readers tomorrow!

Happy Running.......

Run with the Wind

I'm heading out of town for the weekend. Driving up to the desert to visit with my family. I'm going with my sister to her baby gender ultrasound! I'm very excited to see if I'm going to have a new niece or nephew in September. If y'all were reading early on and doing the math that means you know she ran the half marathon with me while she was 6 weeks pregnant! Amazing right?!?!!!!!

Where I grew up there is WIND and lots of it! So much that it's a Wind Energy Capital, TONS of Wind Turbines! One day during our training for our half marathon my sister and I actually had my brother in law drive us out 5 miles so we can run back the whole way with the wind. Running against that wind suuuuccckkkkks! It's crazy windy there. Which is why this 10K I'm running is called Run With the Wind 5k/10k! Ha! Just a little background story for ya.

I'm very excited to run this 10K. It's my first 10k! I know crazy I ran a half before a 10K, and I'm running with a group of girlfriends/family/momma :) One of my friends and I run pretty close in pace so we decided to run it together and just have fun with it! Of course we have matching outfits to go with it!

Moving onto workouts! I am working so so so very hard to get rid of my "mommy gut" and by working hard I mean all in my nutrition, because of course we all know abs are made in the kitchen. I am staying far away from sugar, and simple carbohydrates. I still eat complex carbs of course. Anyways I think that this hard work is starting to pay off and maybe one day I'll get rid of my baby pooch.

As far as workouts go I'm finishing up week 7 of Jillian Michaels Body Revolution which I think also has a major play in my definition. I LOVE that beast Jillian! and I'm running when I can! With 3 kids I squeeze a run in whenever I can lately it's been on the dreadmill at night!

I also want to share with you this amazing woman who has gone through a similar journey and she is an AMAZING motivator/inspiration. She has a really good way of putting the same feelings I have had through my journey into words! I'm not very good at that! Check her out! I love my girl Elle Noel XOXO!

Well that is it short and sweet today I gotta hit the road. I'll update y'all on my run after the weekend! See ya on instagram @run_elisha_run

Happy Thursday XOXOXO
Elisha

Runner Girl Problems

Another FITabulous weekend gone by in sunny So Cal! I came home from a run on Saturday morning and my family was already in the pool! I took off my running shoes and dipped my feet in. Then snapped this picture, which then lead to this post.........

Runner Girl Problems

1. Your feet will always be white!
2. You will get depressed if you can not get a good run in at least once a week.
3. You will have more medals, race t-shirts, race bags, and bibs than you know what to do with!
4. Your husband may or may not get annoyed that you use all your extra money on 5k races, 10k races, mud runs, color runs, half marathons and anything else that has to do with running!
5. You will lose weight and get those nice runners legs and your new favorite season just might be summer so you can wear SHORTS!!!!!
6. Your friends and family might see how much fun you are having running all the time and they just might join in with you.
5. You will feel free, empowered, less stressed, the best you have felt in your life,  and closer to God when you are outside running and breathing in that fresh air!
7. The price of your shoes in your closet may be a lot! not because of designer heels, but because of the price of running shoes!
8. You will compete with yourself and feel more powerful than you ever have when you push yourself those long distances!
9. You may never do your hair on weekends anymore because those are your long run days and rest days.
10. Your feet may hurt..... from kicking so much ass!
11. You may never stop running because it is a part of who you are now! It's a hobby, a life style, a passion, and the road only goes up from here.......

I can keep going on about all these great "problems", but 11 is one of my favorite numbers so I'll stop there for now! If any of you would like to add to the list feel free in the comments!!!!

Ta-Ta for now FITabulous readers!!!!!
XOXO

BIG News with a LITTLE progress!

Sorry about my last post I'm always worried when I post tips because I am by no means an expert and my only knowledge comes from my own experience , lessons, and trials from my own personal fitness journey and I know everyone has a different story. In the 3+ years I have been living this lifestyle I think I have learned so so much and continue to learn with every new day. HOWEVER!!!!! I have decided to get certified in personal training and I can't wait!!!! I'm going to start the course next month!!!!! I am so excited!

I just finished Week 6 of Jillian Michaels Body Revolution. This puts me half way through her 90 day program and I am already seeing more definition than I did at the end of my first round when I did this program last year! I am so happy and can't wait to see what "pops" up in the next 6 weeks! I love this program so much! I only workout 30 minutes a day that's it! Except for when I can get a run in, but I don't consider that working out I consider that my "ME" time! Anyways here is what is starting to peak through in the first 6 weeks.......

I also have a little flash back Friday for ya! I posted one on my instagram yesterday @run_elisha_run but here's a new one for ya.....
This was 2007 my first son was 4 months old. The scale continued to climb for 3 years.....

Well I think that is enough fluff for your Friday! I just wanted to update y'all on my Jillian Michaels Body Revolution progress since I am at the half way point! I know some of y'all were doing this program also! How is it going for you?

I hope y'all have a FITtastic Green Weekend XOXOXO

Screw the Wagon this is YOUR RIDE!

So I have been getting a lot of questions lately about "falling off the wagon" or those who want to know how they go about starting to run. SO these are my tips of course I am no expert but I can tell you what I know through my own experience in my fitness journey :)

The Wagon: To me I say screw the wagon! This is your journey and your pace. YOU pick your ride! I say more like a princess carriage, because there are times I'm going to cry and throw a fit like a diva!
Find what workouts and nutrition options work for you. Don't compare yourself to any other's fitness level or diet. The most important thing is to find a routine and healthy eating habit that you can stick to. Even if that means 15 minutes of HIIT training in the morning and 15 minutes of running on your lunch break. Where ever you can make a 30 minute workout fit into your schedule and stick to will work! But no matter what, give it ALL you got! No half ass-ing a workout! You get back what you put in! This is your ride, your pace, you change the gears when you are ready! But don't ever ever turn off that engine!

There are so many resources out there to help you with working out, YouTube is a huge help when you don't know moves. You don't need a gym! The world is my gym and I take full use of it! Like I said before find what works for you and what you enjoy doing! Walking, biking, swimming, hiking, running, lifting, home dvds, or the gym. There are so many options but no room for excuses.

Take before pictures and look at them all the time. If you want change then you have to change what you were doing before you took that picture that got you to that, and no matter what DON'T QUIT! Take one day at a time. Every day is a new day to change and move towards your goals. Don't go back always move forward.

Nutrition: I am definitely no expert on this subject but what does seem to always keep me on track is MyFitness Pal. Tracking every single thing I put into my mouth. You will be surprised how much those little bites of your children's snacks will add up. Once you realize how much and how fast all those calories add up you will start to find recipes that are lower in calories and more healthy for you and your family. There are a ton of websites out there that have great options for healthy cooking and snack ideas.

Water! Water! Water! I personally LOVE water with lemon and I drink it 24/7! You'll never see me without a huge jug of water with me at all times. Don't waist your calories one drinks, and skip the diet soda your body will thank you later.

Food is FUEL! You wouldn't fill your car up with junk and expect it to run efficiently. Don't expect your body to do the same. It took me a long time to train my body to eat for fuel and not for pleasure. Once you master that it will be a lot easier to resist the cupcakes. Your determination to reach your goal has to be stronger than your want for the good tasting food. When I want to reach for the sugary snacks I try to think of summer and shorts and tanks before I ask myself if it's really worth it. It's hard and it takes time but you can train your body to overcome that want.

Allow cheat/treat days once a week. Don't go over board, but eat what have been craving just limit yourself have just once a week. YOU can make it though a week until your cheat day :)

Last but not least, YOU have to hold yourself accountable for your decisions and actions. No matter if you are counting calories or watching what you eat. YOUR body is always counting the calories no matter if you are or not, and your body will reflect of the decisions that YOU make. You body will show the amount of work you have put in, no matter what you are telling people or logging in your food diary.

Running: I only starting running last year. I was never even able to run a straight mile in high school. Of course not I was the chubby girl! But now watch out high school Elisha because the new Elisha is a runner!!!

Stick to the training plan. If you follow a training plan you can build your way up to a marathon if you wish, but it takes time and patience. If you follow the plan you will get there. When I first started I used a plan off of runnersworld but there are a ton of different running plans on the Internet just use google. Couch to 5K is a great one to start with also. Pace: the more you run the better you will get. Speed training is a great way to improve your pace.

Believe that you can do it! because you CAN! Running is a huge mental sport. Most of the time you are competing with your brain. You have to talk yourself into running that last mile, you have to convince yourself that YOU CAN make it to the end.

Music! Music is a huge key to my running. Without jams blasting in my ears I would have never started or finished my half marathon ha! Make a running play list with all the songs that go perfect for your pace make it so much easier. For me anyway. There is also always Pandora with a great pre-made play list for you! I love the Pop and Hip Hop Power Workout Station, but there are so many on there.

Start out with low distances and work your way up. Sign up for a 5K about 3 months out and work your way to that. I say pick a fun one like a COLOR RUN or many others out there that are fun runs. Active.com is a great site to find runs in your area. Once you complete your first 5K, warning you might be addicted :)

Well there is so much more I could go all day but I'm sure I already lost a bunch of readers a while ago but I truly just want to stress that you CAN do this! You DESERVE this, and you will be so so very happy when you reach your goals! Take them one month at a time and always reward yourself! New workout clothes is my favorite reward.

YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!! LETS GO.........

Running Mojo

I did a 5 miler yesterday and I have to say I think my running mojo is making it's way back! The reward goes to a new product I found and LOVE I really believe this had a lot to do with my energy. I forgot my headphones at home and I think it's a true miracle I ran without music blasting in my ears haha, let alone at the pace I ran!

and the reward goes to these "crack in a gummy".......
I have never ran with anything like these before but I have heard of people taking gel packs and gummies like these and NOW I know why! These things were awesome I had so much energy with no music, I was never out of breath, and I busted out my old 9 minute miles again!!!! Do any of y'all use these when you run?
I think mile 4 was when I had to make a pit stop for the dog :)

It was a whole new world to me running without music. I could hear the birds chirping, the people I pass talking, and I could actually taste the fresh air I was breathing in! Usually if my headphones fell out on previous runs it was like the whole world would stop and I couldn't even run ha! But this was amazing actually! With that being said, I don't think I would like to run without music all the time, maybe on short runs but long runs I need my jams! It was an amazing run, but what run isn't an amazing run when it's done right?!

I came home just in time to make dinner for the family. My kids love crusted chicken. I usually use Shake n' Bake but they were out at the store so I tried the Progresso Crispy Italian and it was delicious!

With all the clean eating I've been doing and running back in my workouts MyFitness Pal was really nice to me yesterday!
So this is telling me if I run 5 miles everyday for the next 5 weeks I could weigh 127 pounds! Craziness! But I won't be running 5 miles everyday. However, this proves my "domain" Run Off Your Bum", because you can literally do just that hahaha!

Well I hope y'all have a wonderful Tuesday and have a great workout today!!! XOXOXO

Anchors Away it's Workout Day

Well all day everyday is workout day but  the title just rhymed with my awesome new workout shirt. A group of girls in my hometown is getting together at the end of the month for a 5K/10K. Y'all know me I LOVE to wear cute workout gear so I came up with these for the run! We all are going to wear these anchor tanks and anchor socks. Target seriously has the cutest socks ever! I would buy every pair but only because they are cute, I only wear them once a week for Wacky Workout Wear Wednesday! So I guess I don't need all those socks....
I am so looking forward to this run because that means I get to go home and see my sweet momma, and Sista and all my beautiful family!!!! and of course I get to do a run with my girls, in our rockin' outfits! Now I better get to running. This week I haven't been able to get a run in at all it's been a crazy week. My brother came down to visit and left my niece with me for the week (because I wanted her to stay with us)! We are having great times, and fitting a run in is hard with two 3 year old boss's at home with me during the day this week!
bro and I hiking at the beach with my niece and my son

It has been so crazy here that I actually went out in public with these on today........

I can't believe I never noticed! The orange is a bright neon orange!!! I know that my son's entire kindergarten class and their parents noticed this morning when I dropped him off at school. Ahhhhh I just laughed when I got in the car and looked down. I was wondering why my feet felt a little different.

But the one thing I have kept up with is Jillian Michaels Body Revolution. I'm finishing up week 5 this week! I may be busy but I'm never too busy to fit in a 30 minute workout! That's why I love her programs so much she jam packs that 30 minutes with awesomeness. I always use 10lb/15lb weights with her workouts to get the max out of them even though the men on there use 8lbs ppsshhh sissy's!

I hope y'all are having a FITtastic Thursday and Friday and I will see y'all on instagram!!!! XOXOXO

Harlem Shake Weekend

HAAAAAPPPPYYYYY Monday!!!!! I hope y'all had a fabulous weekend!!!! I sure did! Why?! Because I got my first 5 miles in since the half and it felt AMAZING!!!!! I finally got past the 3 mile "why am I running?!" and made it to the "I LOVE running!!!!" zone. Man that felt sooooo good! It was a new experience for me too. Since I started training for the half marathon in the fall I have only ran long distances in the winter and cold weather. Call me crazy but my ideal temps for running is in the 30's! I can run so much better in the cold. But Saturday it was 70 and sunny and I thought I was going to die from heat exhaustion! I will have to get used to this and get up earlier to run when it's still cooler in the mornings. So as soon as I got home I jumped straight into our pool and it really felt so awesome! I did it 3 more times yyeeeaaaaahhhhhhh........
That is my fitness recap you don't want to hear the rest because it was full of junk! Yeah I gotta work my booty off this week to make up for my cheat day yesterday! But I did get a little calorie burn in with our Harlem Shake workout! I don't know why my husband is obsessed with watching these videos on YouTube he thinks they are so funny he just had to make a "V Family" Harlem shake. This was our one and only take with a 3 and 5 year old you only got one shot! I thought it was hilarious but it's because it is my crazy family! So here you go.........

One last note does anyone have tendonitis in your foot from running? My foot started hurting again last night I iced it and took some ibuprofen and today seems fine. I was wondering if this will last forever and what y'all do to treat it after long runs?

I'll leave you with my Sunday #OOTD I posted on Instagram, I had to create a new one and lost all of y'all so find me again I miss y'all!!!! @run_elisha_run

Have a great week beautiful FITnatics XOXOXO
